Edward & Bella
'Twilight' fanatics got the chance to attend 'prom' in the town of Forks, Washington, just like Edward and Bella.

Ever wish you could live in the world of "Twilight"?

Well, last weekend, many ultimate fans got the chance to do just that, People.com reports. At "Summer School in Forks: A 'Twilight' Symposium," fans were given the chance to live out their fantasies.

Attendees had the opportunity to check out the setting for Stephenie Meyer's vampire romance novels: the notoriously rainy small town of Forks, Washington. The town, which has a population of about 3,000, apparently welcomed the weekend influx of visitors who were hoping to follow in the fictional footsteps of Edward and Bella.

"The town was having some major economic issues, because their major export was logging - and then 'Twilight' came along," said Kaleb Nation, who keeps a popular blog for "Twilight" fans. "And if you look at Forks now, Stephenie has transformed this town into a 'Twilight' tourism economy. It's crazy."

Highlights from the event-filled weekend - which cost $300 for two Twilighters to attend - included a high school prom with performances by "Twilight" tribute bands like Bella Cullen Project and Bella Rocks, and summer graduation set in the school's cafeteria. There was even a keynote speech delivered by Larry Carroll of MTV"s "Twilight Tuesdays" column.

Around town, fans could also spot signs like "Edward Cullen Slept Here" and "Twilight Dinner." Memorabilia from the books was on clear display in most storefronts complete with cutouts of the film's starring duo, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.

"As the line between fiction and fact continued to blur," Larry Carroll told People of the event, "the Twilighters exchanged hugs and phone numbers, taking home the memories of a lifetime along with their diplomas."

'Twilight' Star Robert Pattinson And Sharon Stone

Published by Adam Rosenberg on Friday, May 22, 2009 at 4:30 pm.

Wow. The things you can do when you're wealthy. Kind of astonishing really. Take the amFar Celebrity Auction that went down in Cannes last night in support of AIDS research. One of the highlighted offers on the block was a birthday visit and a kiss from "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson. Not exactly a prize I'll be stepping up for anytime soon, but based on the results of our RPattz "Bel Ami" poll, I am in the minority.

Someone paid big bucks, as the RPattz kiss ended up selling for a whopping $20K. The heartthrob even went as far mentioning the possibility that "something more" could happen depending on how things go, though Stone wisely brushed past the comment without any acknowledgment. She did score a free kiss before Pattinson left the stage, most likely to the chagrin of whomever had just spent $20K for the exact same thing. Check out video from the event here (the RPattz/Stone money shot comes in at around the 2:20 mark):
